President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the dismissal of Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

By another decree, Zelenskyi appointed Oleksandr Syrskyi as the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.

Earlier on Thursday, Zelensky and Zaluzhny simultaneously announced a joint meeting and stated that they discussed changes in the leadership of the Armed Forces.

Zelenskyi appointed Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, cited the need to review the tactics of actions and prevent stagnation along the front line as one of the reasons for Valery Zaluzhny’s dismissal.
