On Monday, July 3, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) granted permission to conduct a special pre-trial investigation against the former People’s Deputy of the III-IX convocations. This is stated in the Telegram channel of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
The ex-people’s deputy is suspected of treason and illegal enrichment. It will be reported that the said decision of the court will contribute to the completion of the pre-trial investigation, after which the case will be sent to the VAKS.
According to the SAPO, in 2019-2022, the law enforcement and intelligence agencies of the Russian Federation paid the former deputy at least $567,000 for discrediting Ukraine in the international arena.
The pre-trial investigation showed that the ex-people’s deputy worsened diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Washington, and also complicated the integration of Ukraine into the European Union and NATO. SAPO and NABU qualify his actions under Part 2 of Art. 28 h. 1 tbsp. 111, Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The SAP does not mention the name of the former people’s deputy, however, according to the Radio Liberty portal, it is Andriy Derkach.
Recall that on January 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky deprived a number of people’s deputies of Ukrainian citizenship, including Andriy Derkach. According to sources, their deputy mandates were taken away from them.
We also wrote that in December last year, the Federal Court of Brooklyn published a 7-count charge against Andrei Derkach. The politician was accused of money laundering, fraud and illegal acquisition of luxury real estate in Beverly Hills.
