The Ukrainian gas transmission system operator (OGTSU) has submitted an application to the German regulator to participate in the certification procedure for the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream-2. The head of the company Sergey Makogon wrote about this on Wednesday, October 20, on Facebook.

“We consistently continue to oppose the Nord Stream-2 geopolitical project, which carries risks to Ukraine’s national security, violates the rights and commercial interests of OGTSU directly, destroys the European energy architecture, contradicts the principles of EU energy solidarity and threatens the security of gas supplies to Europe,” the statement said. …

According to Makogon, the commissioning of SP-2 “will strengthen the dominant position of Gazprom.”

“Both Nord Streams are surplus capacities, the purpose of which is to oust the powerful Ukrainian GTS from the energy market as an alternative route for gas supplies to Europe, and to concentrate the bulk of transit in the narrow corridor of the Baltic Sea,” he said.

Finally, the head of OGTSU said that it was necessary to inform Ukraine’s strategic partners about all the risks and threats in the event of the launch of Sevpotok-2.

As a reminder, on Monday, Naftogaz of Ukraine also submitted an application to the German regulator to participate in the certification process for SP-2.

As the media found out the day before, the company’s joining the certification of the Russian gas pipeline by the European Commission is technically possible and could delay this process for two months.
