The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia to resume the operation of the Uzhgorod International Airport.

This agreement will allow to resume the full-fledged operation of the airport and link Zakarpattia region by air with other regions of Ukraine and foreign countries.

“We are completing all domestic procedures required for the entry into force of the new intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia on the Uzhgorod International Airport. Its implementation will allow to resume the full operation of the airport in the near future because the airport can service planes only using Slovak airspace due to its territorial features and close location to the border with Slovakia. I am grateful to the Government of the Slovak Republic for cooperation and the colleagues for supporting this important decision,” said Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii.

As reported, on September 24, 2020, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii and Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic Andrej Doležal signed a bilateral intergovernmental agreement on the provision of aviation maintenance services by a Ukrainian service provider in a certain part of Slovakia’s airspace relative to Uzhgorod International Airport.
