Zelensky, Nausėda sign declaration on Ukraine’s European prospect

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda signed a Joint Declaration on Ukraine’s European Prospect.

“The Joint Declaration fixes Lithuania’s support for the European prospect of our state,” the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state reports.

The document stipulates that, in accordance with Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union, Ukraine, like any European state that respects the values enshrined in Article 2 of this Treaty and undertakes to follow them, may apply for membership in the European Union in case of observance of all conditions and obligations.

At the same time, the Republic of Lithuania will support Ukraine when it decides to apply for EU membership.

President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda is on an official visit to Ukraine on March 18-19.
