The judges of the Constitutional Court, out of competition, appointed their colleagues’ wives and relatives as their assistants and scientific advisers.

In particular, Yulia Kasminina has been working as an assistant for Judge Alexander Litvinov since December 2018. This is the daughter of the current judge of the KSU Alexander Kasminin. Last year, according to the COP, she earned about UAH 400,000 in wages.

In a comment to journalists, her father, a judge of the Constitutional Court, noted that his daughter had become an assistant to Judge Litvinov “in accordance with the law on the Constitutional Court.”

Olga Shaptala, the daughter-in-law of the ex-head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Natalya Shaptala, works as an assistant for Judge Kasminin himself. Now Olga Shaptala is on parental leave.

For judge Viktor Krivenko, Tamara Fedorenko, the wife of the former judge of the Constitutional Court Mikhail Gultai, works as an assistant.

The journalists approached all of the aforementioned judges for comments.

Judge Litvinov, in response to a question about the principle on which his assistant was appointed, noted that “for the time being he will refrain from any comments and answers.”
