The fifth president of Ukraine, and currently a people’s deputy from the “European Solidarity” faction, Petro Poroshenko, plans to file a lawsuit over the cancellation of his business trip abroad.
During the briefing, he said that he “will not leave without a reaction the illegal actions of the border guards, the leadership of the parliament and the SBU, which are being pushed by individuals from the President’s Office.”
“I have instructed my lawyers and several legal documents will be filed. This will also be a statement about a crime, about the initiation of a criminal case against the leadership of the parliament, which made an illegal decision, as well as an appeal against an illegal government resolution, which, contrary to the legislation and the Constitution of Ukraine, limits the activities of people’s deputies of Ukraine,” Poroshenko noted.
According to him, in November he appealed to the leaders of the states, who are tentatively classified as “skeptics of Ukraine’s membership in the EU”, referring to Hungary and Slovakia, in order to convince them to support the start of negotiations on our country’s membership. Poroshenko noted that the business trip, which was canceled on Friday, December 1, included only meetings in Poland and the United States, in particular with the Speaker of Congress Mike Johnson, representatives of Democrats and Republicans, the leadership of the State Department and the Pentagon. The People’s Deputy noted that all the details of the visits during December 2-7 were agreed with the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We will remind, Poroshenko published a video from the state border, in which he said that he was stopped by the border guards, despite the fact that the politician had a business trip order signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk. Later it turned out that the first deputy speaker Oleksandr Kornienko canceled the departure without giving a reason, referring to the “letter for official use”.
Subsequently, the Security Service of Ukraine stated that Poroshenko was not allowed abroad because he was allegedly planning a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The special service indicated that Russia allegedly wanted to use this meeting in “its IPSO against Ukraine.”
Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary stated that “if Poroshenko was interested in such an opportunity for consultations, we would not like to be an obstacle to it.”
After the scandal with another “servant of the people” Yuri Aristov, it became known that people’s deputies were forbidden to travel abroad. At the same time, for each people’s deputy who went on vacation, the responsibility for some reason is different: someone completed the mandate, and someone continues to work in the parliament.

In addition, the diplomatic function of the parliament was attacked, which is unacceptable in the period of war, when the vote of each country in support of Ukraine is critically important.
