People’s deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky was charged with treason and participation in a criminal organization.
Employees of the SBU together with the SBU exposed a criminal organization that included current and former people’s deputies, an assistant to one of them, as well as an ex-prosecutor.
These are Oleksandr Dubinskyi (call sign “Pinocchio”), Andriy Derkach, his former assistant Igor Kolesnikov (call sign “Veteran”, according to SBU materials, he has already been convicted and is serving a sentence for treason) and Kostyantyn Kulik (call sign “Bird”).
It has been established that, on the instructions of the Russian special services, they organized measures to discredit Ukraine’s image on the international arena in order to worsen diplomatic relations with the United States and complicate Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO, the SBI emphasizes.
So far, the SBI investigators have reported the suspicion of treason as part of a criminal organization to the current People’s Deputy (Dubinsky) and the former prosecutor (Kulik) (Part 1 of Article 111 and Part 1 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Ex-deputy Derkach was previously charged with treason by NABU employees on similar charges. Currently, he and his assistant (Kolesnikov) have been additionally notified of suspicion of participation in a criminal organization.
The first deputy head of the State Security Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Alekseev) and his assistant (Savin) were informed of the suspicion of creating a criminal organization and inciting treason.
According to the investigation, Derkach and Dubinsky organized various media events where they spread fake news about the Ukrainian government and its Western partners.
The investigation established that this was a well-planned special operation of the Russian special services aimed at discrediting Ukrainian-American relations and slowing down the integration processes of Ukraine’s entry into the EU and NATO.
The former prosecutor also took part in similar events. He publicly “justified” their fakes from the point of view of law, the SBI notes.
It has been established that the criminal organization was created by Volodymyr Alekseev, deputy head of the State Security Service of the Russian Federation, as an agency network that operated in the capital of Ukraine.
His deputy, Oleksiy Savin, was in charge of operational management of the enemy group from the territory of the Russian Federation.
The project was financed by the Russian special services, the money was transferred to Ukraine through the assistant of the former People’s Deputy. According to preliminary estimates, the Russian special services spent at least 10 million US dollars on this organization. But the People’s Deputies themselves have repeatedly traveled to Russia to meet with their curators.
In particular, the investigation has at its disposal documents that confirm Dubinsky’s stay in Russia in October 2019 before the press conference. According to the plan of the Russian curators, as a professional “media killer”, he should have placed the necessary emphasis primarily for the Western audience, the Bureau says.
At the disposal of the law enforcement officers are audio recordings of conversations between an employee of the State Security Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and an agent recruited by the Russian special services. They discuss the details of the operation and mention a participant in the scheme under the operational alias “Pinocchio”. According to the investigation, Dubinsky is hiding under it.
A complex forensic psychological and linguistic examination revealed in the deputy’s speeches at the press conference statements aimed at undermining the defense capability, harming the state and economic security of Ukraine.
In addition, these deputies registered in the parliament draft resolutions on the formation of a temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to investigate the “facts” they exposed at their press conferences.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to fifteen years with confiscation of property.
The issue of the suspect’s choice of precautionary measures in the form of detention is being resolved.
The investigation will also study other actions of the specified persons, which could harm national interests and play into the hands of the enemy, the SBI emphasizes.
