The German IRIS-T air defense system, which Ukraine received about three weeks ago, worked out with 100% result during today’s massive missile strike. On Monday, October 31, Air Force representative Yuri Ignat announced this on the air of the telethon.
At the same time, he emphasized that more air defense systems are needed for more reliable protection of the Ukrainian sky.
“We ask and continue to call on the world to provide weapons to Ukraine. We need air defenses. The means that we have already announced, IRIS-T needs more. It works and today this system worked and worked with 100% result,” Ignat said.
Note that the IRIS-T SLM is a ground-based anti-aircraft missile system developed by Diehl Defense with modified IRIS-T short-range guided missiles with an infrared homing head, equipped with a more powerful engine. The range of fire from a vertical launcher is up to 40 km, defeat is 20 km.
Ignat also announced the need to update the air defense. According to him, despite the fact that the military coped well with the missile attack, Soviet air defense systems should be replaced with modern ones.
