The first batch of military aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the amount of $200 million arrived in Ukraine from the United States. This was reported by the US Embassy in Ukraine.
The first of several batches of a $200 million security package for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which was accepted by President Biden in December, arrived at Kiev’s Boryspil airport on the morning of January 22.
The cargo includes about 91,000 kilograms of lethal weapons, including ammunition for Ukrainian servicemen on the front lines.
“This assistance … demonstrates the strong commitment of the United States to Ukraine’s sovereign right to self-defense,” the embassy added.
It is noted that last year the United States provided more than $650 million in security to Ukraine, including this aid package, and over $2.7 billion in security in total since 2014.
The United States intends to continue to provide such assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, supporting them in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine from Russian aggression.
