The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the first use of the Bayraktar strike drone in the Donbas. This was announced on Tuesday, October 26, the press center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
It is noted that this was done in response to the shelling of D-30 howitzers, as a result of which one soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine died, two were wounded.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stressed that the drone did not cross the collision lines.
“With the beginning of the shelling, through the OSCE SMM, a demand for a ceasefire was immediately put forward, and a note was sent through diplomatic channels. However, the invaders did not react. In order to force the enemy to ceasefire, by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Bayraktar was used. The unmanned aerial vehicle did not cross the line of collision and with a guided bomb destroyed one cannon with the crew of the Russian occupation forces,” the statement says.
It is also reported that after the use of the UAV, shelling of Ukrainian positions ceased.
