Ukraine will receive 16 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine as part of the COVAX initiative, Cabinet Minister Oleg Nemchinov said.
“Not 8, but 16 million doses of vaccine … 8 million is the number of doses that need to be injected twice for 4 million citizens. According to 16 million – this will be for 8 million citizens. This is what Ukraine will receive under COVAX,” Nemchinov said.
He recalled that according to the vaccination plan, first of all, doctors and people from risk groups should be vaccinated.
In addition, Ukraine will also routinely purchase a certified vaccine, and citizens who are not on the priority lists for vaccination will be able to be vaccinated, Nemchinov added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced the possibility of receiving 16 million doses of free vaccines, but they did not state this as a fact.
