The Ukrainian military continues to advance in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this in an evening report on Tuesday, September 19.

During the day, Russian troops launched nine missile and 67 air strikes, carried out 40 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian deaths and injuries. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

There were 15 military clashes on the front during the day. The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled an enemy attack in the area west of Yagodnoye, Donetsk region. The enemy tried to restore the lost position in the Andreevka area of the Donetsk region, but had no success.

In the Maryinsky direction, within 24 hours, Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters successfully repelled 10 attacks by Russians in the Maryinka area of the Donetsk region. In the Zaporozhye direction, the Ukrainian military successfully repelled an attack by the invaders in the Robotinoy district of the Zaporozhye region.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflict damage to the occupation forces in manpower and equipment, and exhaust the enemy.

During the day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 16 strikes on areas where personnel, weapons and military equipment are concentrated, and two on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems. Units of the missile forces hit three control points, an anti-aircraft missile system, nine artillery weapons and an ammunition depot and an enemy electronic warfare station.

The General Staff notes that the occupiers cynically continue to violate the norms of international humanitarian law – they forcibly live together with civilians in their homes, using civilians as human shields.

“So, in the village of Tokmak, Zaporozhye region, military personnel of the Russian occupation forces are being resettled en masse with elderly citizens in their homes. In addition, the occupiers are robbing apartments and houses of Ukrainian citizens,” the message says.
