The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in two directions – Bakhmut and Melitopol. The General Staff announced this on August 31.
It is noted that Ukrainian troops were successful in the Novodanilovka-Novoprokopovka direction, are gaining a foothold on the achieved lines, inflicting artillery fire on identified enemy targets, and implementing counter-battery measures.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance south of the city of Bakhmut and consolidate on the achieved lines.
Over the course of a day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Marinka, Staromayorsky, Donetsk region, and Verbovoy, Zaporozhye region.
“The enemy is suffering significant losses in personnel, weapons and equipment, is moving units and troops, and is using reserves,” the General Staff emphasized.
In addition, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the Liman and Bakhmut directions: here the enemy attacked in the Novoyegorovka and Belogorovka areas of the Luhansk region, Klishchievka, Kurdyumovka of the Donetsk region, but had no success. Heavy fighting is going on.
