On the morning of August 6, the Ukrainian coat of arms was installed at the Motherland monument in Kyiv instead of the dismantled Soviet coat of arms.
The trident was delivered to the monument on the evening of August 5. However, due to the impossibility of fixing the coat of arms at night, the installation work was postponed until the morning.
This morning, work on installing the coat of arms on the “Motherland” was completed.
On Tuesday, August 1, the Soviet coat of arms was completely dismantled from the Motherland monument.
Fully work on replacing the coat of arms with the Ukrainian trident should be completed by Independence Day, August 24.
“Motherland” is the tallest monumental sculpture in Europe. It was built in 1981 and is located on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II.
The dismantling of the Soviet coat of arms on the Motherland monument is being carried out as part of the Trident of the Batkivshchyna project. They have been working on it since 2022.
