In Kyiv, work has been completed on the dismantling of the Soviet coat of arms from the Motherland monument.
After two breaks during the dismantling due to air raids, the workers were finally able to remove the Soviet coat of arms from the Motherland Monument and begin further work.
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported that the replacement of the coat of arms of the USSR with the coat of arms of Ukraine at the Motherland Monument is taking place according to the approved schedule.
“By the Independence Day of Ukraine, the monument will officially receive a new symbol – the Ukrainian Trident,” the ministry’s press service said, citing Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandeev.
At the same time, the metal structure of the Trident has already been made, and relevant studies have been carried out on the quality of the metal.
Scientists and the public suggested changing the name of the monument as well. The Academic Council of the Museum of War has already decided to name the monument Ukraine Mother. This initiative will be considered by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
