The Plenum of the Supreme Court expressed no confidence in its head Vsevolod Knyazev, because of which he automatically lost his post. This became known from the online broadcast of the plenum on Tuesday, May 16.
137 judges voted for this decision. Against – no one. At the same time, the very initiative to express no confidence by secret ballot was supported by 140 judges out of 142.
Until a new Chairman of the Supreme Court is elected, his duties will be performed by the judge with the longest experience, secretary of the session Dmitry Luspenik.
At the same time, Vsevolod Knyazev will continue to have the status of a judge – only the High Council of Justice can finally dismiss him from the judicial system.
Recall that on May 15, law enforcement officers exposed a corruption scheme involving the leadership of the Supreme Court. In particular, the head of the court, Vsevolod Knyazev, was caught on a bribe of $2.7 million. We are talking about money that was transferred from persons acting on the part of businessman Konstantin Zhevago.
