The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine exposed the head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, of accepting a bribe of about $3 million (approximately UAH 110 million at the current exchange rate – ed.). The judge was arrested.

It is expected that more detailed information about this bureau will be announced tomorrow, May 16.

Knyazev received money from people who advocated court decisions in favor of the oligarch Konstantin Zhevago. Recall that the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court considered the case on the ownership of 40.19% of the shares of the Poltava mining and processing plant (PGOK) Ferrexpo. By its decision, the authority left these shares to Zhevago-related companies, canceling the invalidation of the sale and purchase agreements concluded 20 years ago.

Against the backdrop of Knyazev’s detention, searches are being carried out at 18 more judges of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who heard the case. The High Council of Justice will have to remove them. At the same time, Knyazev has not had a deputy for about a year and a half, so his detention will mean the “decapitation” of the body.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported on Telegram that its representatives, together with NABU, exposed “large-scale corruption in the Supreme Court of Ukraine.” We are talking about a scheme for obtaining illegal benefits by management and judges.

“Currently, urgent investigative actions are being carried out. Details later,” the post reads, complete with a photo of a large amount of US dollars in cash.
