In Ukraine, almost all cases of COVID-19 passing through genetic analysis over the past few weeks are caused by the Kraken strain. Igor Kuzin, Chief State Sanitary Doctor, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to him, at present, the incidence rates of this strain exceed the predicted average, because it is transmitted faster than Omicron.
“If before the incidence was 50 to 50, then over the past few weeks, almost all cases passing through sequencing are caused by Kraken,” Kuzin said.
The chief sanitary doctor noted that the strain not only transmits faster and moves from one region to another, but also replaces Omicron at the level of each region of Ukraine.
