The contract for the use of the UOC-MP Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is terminated from March 29. This applies to all premises rented by the UOC in the Lavra, said Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandra Tkachenko.

“Today, 03/10/2023, the National Reserve “Kiev-Pechersk Lavra” sent a warning to the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (monastery) of the UOC about the termination of the agreement on the gratuitous use of religious organizations by cults,” Tkachenko said.

According to him, such a warning is justified by the conclusions of the Interdepartmental Working Group, which during its work established a violation by the Monastery of the terms of the agreement on the use of state property.

The basis for the “eviction” of the UOC-MP, according to the Ministry of Culture, was the recorded violations of the conditions for the use of state property.

“In accordance with the procedure defined by the legal field, from tomorrow the working groups formed by the Reserve will work on the inventory of property and on the inspection of the technical condition of buildings and structures,” the minister added.

Recall, back in early December 2022, it became known that the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra was officially registered as a monastery as part of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
