The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed a new director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). They became Semyon Krivonos. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Telegram on Monday, March 6.
“Just at an extraordinary meeting, Semyon Krivonos was appointed head of the bureau. This process was preceded by a transparent competition, following which the commission, which, in particular, consisted of international partners, identified three candidates for the position of director of NABU,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that now Ukraine has complied with all seven recommendations of the European Union, which were determined when obtaining the status of a candidate.
“This demonstrates our determination to move on to the start of accession negotiations this year. By appointment of the director of NABU, we also have a fully formed and independent anti-corruption infrastructure,” Shmyhal said.
It is known that since 2021 Semyon Krivonos has been the head of the State Inspectorate for Architecture and Urban Planning. At the same time, back in 2016, he became the winner of the competition for the head of the Odessa territorial organization of NABU, but then he refused the post.
