The appeal of the High Anti-Corruption Court has appointed a bail of 229 million hryvnias to the former head of the board of Naftogaz, Andriy Kobolev. This was announced by the Anti-Corruption Action Center on Wednesday, March 1.

“This means that the investigating judge previously made an illegal decision and it was canceled, and the suspicion from the anti-corruption authorities to Kobolev is justified,” the message says.

It is noted that the choice of a preventive measure also indicates the presence of risks that Kobolev may influence or hinder the investigation. In particular, he was ordered to refrain from communicating with witnesses in the proceedings.

Recall that on January 19, Kobolev was notified of suspicion of abuse of his official position while securing for himself the payment of bonuses for 229 million hryvnias for the victory of the company in the Stockholm Arbitration with Russian Gazprom.

According to the investigation, this amount significantly exceeds the normatively determined amounts of such payments (UAH 37.48 million).

VAKS refused to the prosecutor to elect Kobolev a preventive measure in the form of detention with an alternative bail of 365 million hryvnias. The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office sent a complaint against the court’s decision to the Appeals Chamber of the VAKS.
