Emergency shutdowns in nine areas

Электричество

As of 11:00 am on Thursday, there is a significant power shortage in Ukraine, especially during the morning and evening hours of maximum electricity consumption. It is reported by Ukrenergo on January 12.

To ensure balance in the energy system, consumption limits have been brought to all regions, effective from 00:00 to 24:00. Consumption limits have already been exceeded in nine regions, resulting in the use of emergency shutdowns to maintain stable operation of the power system.

The company recalled that the overall deficit in the energy system is a consequence of massive missile and drone attacks by Russians on the energy infrastructure. In addition, the enemy temporarily occupied a number of power plants that produced electricity for Ukrainians, including the largest Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. These capacities would fully cover the need for electricity.

Ukrenergo, electricity producers and distribution system operators are constantly working to restore damaged facilities hit by enemy missile and drone attacks. And by common efforts we are gradually succeeding.

Power engineers urged citizens to consume electricity wisely, to use energy-intensive appliances in turn. This reduces the load on the power system and reduces the need for restrictions.
