Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Union and its member states have provided Kyiv with various assistance totaling about 50 billion euros.

This was stated by the President of the European Council Charles Michel on Tuesday, December 10, at a joint briefing with the NATO Secretary General and the President of the European Commission in Brussels.

“From day one, we have supported the people of Ukraine with strong military, financial and diplomatic assistance. The EU, together with its member states, has made a contribution of almost 50 billion euros,” said the head of the European Council.

Michel recalled that in connection with the war in Ukraine, for the first time in history, the EU allocated funds through the European Peace Fund to a third country and did this in the first hours after the start of a full-scale war. To date, more than 3 billion euros have been allocated through this mechanism, in addition to significant contributions from member countries, Michel noted.
