In the event of a prolonged power outage, it will be possible to buy train tickets directly in the cars. In addition, in case of a blackout, UZ is preparing to provide other services. This was told by the representative of the passenger direction of Ukrzaliznytsia Anastasia Zolotareva.
“In the event of prolonged power outages, Ukrzaliznytsia will allow passengers to buy tickets at railway stations and trains,” the UZ representative noted.
UZ also reported that generators and a reserve of diesel locomotives for trains were prepared for the stations. All commuter trains are backed up by diesel engines, but Ukrzaliznytsia does not exclude the possibility of reducing the frequency of flights in case of an emergency.
In the event of a blackout, Ukrainian railway stations will have heating points with uninterrupted power supply, wood-burning stoves, warm clothes, and Internet via Starlink. Some points are already equipped with children’s zones, first aid stations and meals from the international organization World Central Kitchen.
