On the morning of October 17, Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 37 out of 43 kamikaze drones launched by the Russian invaders. This was stated by the speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat during a briefing.
“As for those shot down, I’ll tell you – 37 out of 43: 11 were shot down in the southern direction from 21:30 to 22:30, in the morning the enemy continued attacks, from 3:30 to 7 in the morning another 15 kamikaze drones were destroyed, and the third attack – Kiev direction – another 11 UAVs were destroyed there, ”said the military man.
He noted that, according to different information, Russia fired over 10 cruise missiles on the morning of October 17 at Ukrainian cities.
According to him, in the southern direction, where Iranian UAVs are most attacked, 96 “shaheeds” and 4 “mujahideen” have been destroyed since the start of the use of Russian drones.
Ignat also commented on the information about the purchase by Russia of new Iranian Arash-2 drones.
“All these Iranian works are available and experts are studying them. Of course, our intelligence is also not sleeping, of course there is data from our intelligence, and, obviously, steps will be taken to counter these weapons. In any case, we need to rely on Western assistance and Western partners,” he stressed.
The military noted that today “there are many promises.” He expressed the hope that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible, since there are serious challenges on the eve of winter.
