Ukraine and Poland agreed to simplify border crossing

Дуда

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced an agreement with Poland on a bilateral agreement that should simplify border crossing between countries. He said this in a speech in the Rada after the speech of Polish President Andrzej Duda.

Zelensky noted that now Ukrainian cities have become twin cities of the Polish ones, the Ukrainian and Polish people have become twin cities, and the countries have become sisters.

“We are relatives. And there should be no boundaries or barriers between us. Mentally, they have not separated the Ukrainian and Polish peoples for a long time. Therefore, we have come to an agreement to translate this into an appropriate bilateral agreement in the near future. At first – about the general border and customs control, and later – about the only conditional border when Ukraine becomes a member of the European Union. And I am sure that all the necessary decisions, first for the status of a candidate for Ukraine, and then for full membership, will certainly be made. In particular, thanks to Poland’s long-term protection of Ukrainian interests on the European continent,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He thanked Duda for the joint initiative with the leader of Slovakia to convince European colleagues who still have doubts about granting the status of an EU candidate country for Ukraine.
