US President Joe Biden signed the Lend-Lease Act for Ukraine.
White House Speaker Jen Psaki said in advance that the president plans to sign the law on May 9.
Last week, the US House of Representatives approved a lend-lease bill that would allow more efficient shipment of arms, ammunition and equipment to Ukraine.
The document, known as the Lend-Lease Law on the Defense of Ukraine’s Democracy of 2022, will expedite the transfer of important military equipment and other critical supplies to Ukraine by reducing bureaucratic delays. It allows the de facto donation of equipment, with provisions stipulating that the recipient countries pay their cost to the United States at a later date.
