The mayor of Dnipro urged women, children and the elderly to leave the city

The situation in Donbas is heating up and those who are not involved in critical infrastructure should better wait in a safe place, stressed Boris Filatov.

Mayor of Dnipro Boris Filatov recommended that women, children and the elderly should evacuate the city due to the escalation in Donbas. He stated this at a briefing on April 7.

The appeal also applies to those who do not work at critical infrastructure enterprises.

Filatov recalled that at present, residents are being evacuated from the Lugansk and Donetsk regions, and a large number of people are moving across the Dnieper, in particular, by rail.

“However, many people come by private transport and buses. I strongly recommend them not to linger and move further towards Western Ukraine, where it is safer in any case… As for the residents of Dnipro, now there is a tendency that many are returning. I wouldn’t recommend doing this. The situation in Donbas is gradually heating up and April promises to be “hot”. Therefore, to everyone who has the opportunity to leave, I mean women, children, the elderly, as well as those who are not involved in critical infrastructure and industrial enterprises, I would recommend waiting in a safer place,” the mayor of Dnipro emphasized.

At the same time, Filatov clarified that the municipal enterprises and hospitals of the city are operating as usual, and the supply of medicines will last for several months.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk called on residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions to evacuate immediately.
