Destruction was recorded in Kiev, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporozhye, Lugansk, Sumy, Kharkov and Chernihiv regions.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Russian troops have destroyed at least 59 places of worship in eight regions. This was reported by the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.

Since February 24, at least 59 buildings of spiritual significance (not counting adjacent buildings) have already been damaged in at least eight regions of Ukraine: Kiev, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporozhye, Luhansk, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv. The vast majority of them are Orthodox churches. Mosques, synagogues, Protestant churches, religious educational institutions and important administrative buildings of religious organizations were also destroyed.

The department also prepared an interactive map showing all the affected facilities.

“Information, in particular photographs, on damage to places of worship and other consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine for religious communities, please send to religion@dess.gov.ua. Contact number: +380 977053857,” the State Ethnopolitics added.
