The Dnipro Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the court of first instance, which sentenced the former head of the terrorist organization “LPR” Igor Plotnitsky and two other militants to life imprisonment.

“… the former leader of the terrorist organization “LNR” Igor Plotnitsky, the deputy commander of the illegal armed group “Battalion Zarya” Andrey Patrushev and the commander of the illegal armed group “Vityaz” Aleksey Gureev were sentenced to life imprisonment. They were convicted of committing a terrorist act (Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).”

The investigation revealed that they set up ambushes and led groups of militants armed with man-portable air defense systems. On June 14, 2014, these groups shot down an Il-76 military transport aircraft carrying 49 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers while landing at the Luhansk airport. They all died.

The prosecutor’s office’s report indicates that the SBU is working to comply with the court decision, detain the accused and transfer them to serve their sentences.
