The Pechersk district court of Kyiv on Wednesday, January 19, elected the fifth president of Ukraine, the leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko, a measure of restraint in personal commitment.

The court also ordered Poroshenko to hand in passports to travel abroad. In addition, the court arrested the property of Petro Poroshenko and his wife Marina.

Poroshenko was also entrusted with a number of obligations, in particular – to come to the investigator and the court at the first request.

Thus, the court rejected the claims of the prosecution, which demanded an arrest with the alternative of making a billion hryvnia bail.

The prosecution also asked to impose obligations on Poroshenko:

  • come to the investigator and to court;
  • not to leave Kiev without permission;
  • hand over a passport for travel abroad;
  • wearing an electronic bracelet.

“We must act adequately and effectively … We do not celebrate, because I firmly emphasize that these are elements of a hybrid war to intimidate Ukrainians and reduce our ability to resist,” Poroshenko said after the court ruling was announced.
