The State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies at a meeting on Tuesday, September 21, decided to introduce a yellow quarantine zone in Ukraine from September 23. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“The restriction of the yellow and red zones will not apply to those establishments where staff and visitors are vaccinated, have a negative test or confirmation of a recent illness. This is the method that a number of European and world countries are successfully using today in order to save people and at the same time not to stop the country’s economic activity,” Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said during the meeting.
Based on the results of the meeting, the State Commission for TEB and Emergency Situations decided:
- establish from 00:00 on September 23, 2021, the yellow level of the epidemic danger of the spread of COVID-19 on the territory of all regions of Ukraine;
- apply on the territory of all regions of Ukraine restrictive anti-epidemic measures provided for the yellow level of epidemic danger;
- the chairmen of regional and Kiev city state administrations to take measures to ensure compliance with the relevant restrictive anti-epidemic measures provided for the appropriate level of epidemic danger of the spread of COVID-19.
The meeting participants also discussed issues of coverage of the population with vaccination, in particular teachers and employees of educational institutions. Shmyhal noted that compared to last year, the incidence of COVID-19 among children is growing.
Taking into account the discussion, the State Commission instructed the heads of the regional and Kiev city state administrations to take measures to:
- the possibility of involving teachers and employees of educational institutions in the vaccination process;
- the possibilities of existing vaccination points in educational institutions;
- ensuring the possibility and organization of vaccination, including for teachers and employees of educational institutions, with the help of mobile mobile vaccination sessions in the absence of permanent vaccination points in educational institutions;
- informing and proactively inviting to vaccination not only teachers and employees of educational institutions, but also their relatives and relatives of applicants for education in existing vaccination sites in educational institutions and during the work of mobile vaccination sessions.
