In November, Ukraine may approach the red zone of epidemiological danger, then a lockdown may be introduced.

“According to the scenario in which we are now moving, a new lockdown may be introduced approximately in November,” said the country’s chief sanitary doctor Igor Kuzin in an interview with BBC News Ukraine.

According to him, if Ukrainians are vaccinated, adhere to a social distance, the lockdown can be delayed until December-January or not allowed at all.

The decision on the lockdown is made by the local authorities, however, according to Kuzin, if the situation deteriorates greatly, then the maximum restrictions throughout the country can be introduced at the national level.

When asked which of the regions will “cover” the first, the chief sanitary doctor replied that so far there is a deterioration in all regions. But so far, the eastern and western regions of Ukraine are suffering the most, there are a few more patients recorded there than in other regions.

Over the course of a month, the incidence of coronavirus is gradually increasing in Ukraine. At the end of August, an average of 1,500 new patients are recorded per day. In July, there were several times less patients. The number of hospitalizations is also growing significantly.

Less than 10% of the population received coronavirus vaccinations in Ukraine.
