On the eve of the executions at the Euromaidan, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution defining the Revolution of Dignity as one of the key moments in the formation of the Ukrainian state and the spokesman for the national idea of ​​freedom.

295 People’s Deputies voted “for”.

Document number 2739 notes, in particular, the inadmissibility of delaying the investigation of the “Maidan affairs”, emphasizes the importance of the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the inadmissibility of usurpation of power, the actions of Viktor Yanukovych, the Berkut police units and other persons and organizations that committed illegal actions are assessed. namely, the unlawful actions of individual employees of the “Berkut” militia units, individual militiamen, servicemen of internal troops, bailiffs, prosecutors, judges, and other persons during the Revolution of Dignity are condemned.

The importance of peaceful assemblies and the inadmissibility of arbitrariness, the importance of European values ​​as the foundation of the Ukrainian state are also emphasized.

In the period from February 18 to February 20, 2014, in the central part of the city of Kiev, unidentified security forces killed a hundred participants in the Euromaidan. In honor of their self-sacrifice, the term “Heavenly Hundred” appeared. Ukrainian law enforcers are investigating a criminal case in relation to these shootings and the participation of the special police unit “Berkut” in them.
